Edenhall Hospital Garden Improvement Project, Musselburgh, Edinburgh
The site
The Eden Day Unit is part of Edenhall Hospital in Musselburgh. This unit works with elderly clients who have mental health issues, ranging from anxiety and depression disorders to dementia-type disorders. The unit has a compact garden which staff try to use with the clients for therapeutic benefit.
The project
Additional input is required to improve the garden in terms of its usefulness for clients, and to allow it to be more easily maintained. The work tasks on this project would be as follows:
The weeding of existing beds and spread bark to prevent further weed growth.
The cutting back of plants which have become overgrown.
The creation of raised planters on a cemented area of the garden where a greenhouse used to exist.
