New Caledonian Woodlands
Supporting community organisations

Supporting community projects

When we set up New Caledonian Woodlands, our aim was to establish an organisation that would help bring about real environmental improvements in Scotland. We wanted to enhance biodiversity and environmental learning while also being of benefit to communities by helping to improve local environmental assets.

Case study one – Green Routes Project, Gartmore, Trossachs.

Case study two – Garvald Woodland, North Lanarkshire.

Can we help in your community?

We are always on the look-out for new community-led projects where we can be of help. If you are involved in a project which brings environmental and/or community benefit please get in contact with us to see if we can help.

We can offer:

consultancy input at the design stage of your project (for example design and specification of footpaths, new woodland areas, woodland management tasks, raised beds, living willow structures...);

ordering and delivery of project materials;

sourcing and coordination of volunteer group/s to carry out project work, either for one day or for multiple days. This includes:

provision of first aid cover, risk assessment, public liability insurance and all health and safety matters for volunteer project days;

provision of tools and PPE for all volunteers;

full instruction for project task.

As we are managing groups of volunteers who are giving up their time for the benefit of environmental and social projects, we can usually help you for free. We can sometimes even help with material costs for the project.
