Beavers and Wild Boar

19–21 March 2010
The enlightened owner of Bamff estate has carefully researched and released both beavers and wild boar in large enclosures. They enhance what is already a diverse land holding with arable and pastoral agriculture and a range of woodlands, including new Caledonian Pinewoods.
Location |
Near Alyth in Perthshire |
Dates |
19–21 March 2010 |
Activity |
We will be planting native trees and pruning/ thinning a wild planted woodland. The tree planting will probably be in a new Caledonian Pinewood. |
Accommodation |
We will be staying in a holiday flat and other rooms of a big house. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and towel. |
Food |
We will provide dinner on Friday and Saturday, as well as breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, with much of the produce coming from Damhead Organics. |
Transport |
We will collect people from outside Jimmy Chungs on Waverley Bridge in the centre of Edinburgh at 6.00 pm on Friday and will return everyone by about 5.00 pm on Sunday. |
Outings |
We will be visiting the beavers and wild boar, although there is more chance of seeing the boar as the beavers are quite secretive. However, you will be amazed at their dams and their other ‘landscaping’ activities. |
Big Debate |
Should species once native to Scotland be re-introduced ? Are we ready for all of them ? |
Cost |
£25 waged / £20 unwaged |
